MMD Is Desperate : Patrick Mwanawasa
Late third Republican President Levy Mwanawasa's son Patrick has described the purported email that Kabwata PF Member of Parliament Given Lubinda allegedly sent to party secretary General Wynter Kabimba as a desperate attempt by the ruling MMD to destabilize the opposition party.
Mr. Mwanawasa says the ruling party has realized that it stands no chance of bouncing back to power in this year's general election hence resorting to scandalizing innocent people.
He told Qfm that resorting to propaganda activities will not earn the MMD the votes they are desperately soliciting for.
Mr. Mwanawasa who is aspiring to contest the Kafulafuta seat on the PF ticket has called on the MMD leadership to exercise some maturity by conceding that they have lost popularity on the ground rather than succumbing to cheap tactics to gain political mileage.
He has also urged Zambians not to believe fabricated stories and politically motivated statements being championed by the state controlled media.
And Patrick has commended Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo for defecting to the PF and pledging to support him in Kafulafuta Constituency.
He says it is gratifying that those who stuck to his father's principles of governance are showing true colors for which they should be commended.
During a mammoth PF rally in Chongwe over the weekend, Ms. Masebo pledged to camp in Kafulafuta Constituency and carry out vigorous campaigns for Patrick.
She said the MMD has lost direction adding that Patrick has to continue with the vision that his late father Dr. Mwanawasa had for the country and the people of Kafulafuta at large.
