Lusaka Lawyers Join Opposition Parties In Condemning President Michael Sata’s Directive To DBZ To Withdraw The k24 Billion Owed To Them
More than twenty lawyers have joined the opposition parties in condemning President Michael Sata’s directive to DBZ to withdraw the k24 Billion owed to them.
The twenty lawyers who are represented by Professor Patrick Mvunga have gunned in Lusaka and joined forces to protest over the suspension of Justice Philip Musonda, Judge Kajimana and judge Nigel Mutuna , this follows Sata’s directive to suspend the trio.
The lawyers who were in attendance at the meeting held by opposition parties in Kabulonga on May 2, 2012 have described President Satas’ action as an assault to justice and the Judiciary.
Present at the meeting were leaders and members from Movement for Multi Party Democracy, Heritage Party, United Party for National Development, and Alliance for Democracy Development, Zambia Direct Democracy and United Liberal Party all came together expressing shock on the trios’ suspension.
Oppositions vowed to work together until government explains the method Mmeembe and Nchito are going to use to pay back the 20 billion they owed Mathani of finance Bank.
Mutembo Nchito and his colleagues have expressed disappointment with President Satas’ directive to DBZ to withdraw the 14 billion owed to them.
The opposition had trouble finding venue for the meeting as but surprisingly enough a police officer appeared during the meeting and asked if they had a permit to hold such a meeting.
