Former chairperson for land in the ruling MMD, Judith Kapijimpanga has observed that it is constitutional for any citizen to belong to any political party of his choice.
Ms. Kapijimpanga says there is no need to condemn any member of a political party who decides to defect to a party of their choice.
In an interview with QFM, Ms. Kapijimpanga says citizens in the country should be left to decide where they want to belong politically instead of being attacked for making personal decisions.
The former member of the MMD, now in the opposition patriotic front, says she is now comfortable were she is and has since advised other members of the MMD who wish to move to follow suit.

The Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) has commended the Patriotic Front for what it has described as the timely and democratic general conference it held in Kabwe over the weekend.
FFTUZ president Joyce Simukoko in a statement released to QFM today says the Union congratulates PF leader Michael Sata for going through unopposed as party president and others who were elected by the conference.
Mrs Simukoko says it is the wish of the labour movement that other remaining political parties aspiring to contest in this year's election will as well follow suit and ensure they too hold similar democratic conventions in order to allow their followers exercise their rights to choose their party leaders in the same vein the rest of the country's voters will exercise their rights in the forthcoming election.
She says this is a good stride for democracy.
Mrs Simukoko has also hailed the peaceful manner in which the PF held its general conference.

The Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has commended first republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda for attending both the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) national convention and the recently held Patriotic Front general conference in Kabwe.
AVAP Executive Director Bonny Tembo says the decision taken by the former head of state to attend both gatherings is a true sign that he is a non-partisan father of the nation beyond political affiliation.
Mr. Tembo told QFM that the leadership exhibited by the first republican president should be emulated by other leaders in the country.
He has urged Dr. Kaunda to extend his noble gesture and attend other conventions that will be organized by other political parties in the country.
Mr. Tembo has since appealed to Dr. Kaunda to continue playing an advisory role and not to endorse any leader of a political party in this year's general election.
