TEACHERS And Pupils Share The Bush To Answer The Call Of Nature

Teachers and Pupils share the bush to answer the call of nature TECAHERS and pupils at Mulamfu Basic Schools in Kalomo District are using the bush to answer calls of nature.

This came to light during a full council meeting held at the Kalomo Council Chambers in Zimba recently. The school which has classes from Grade 1 to 9 has no toilet facilitieis for both teachers and pupils. And Grade 12 pupils at Mubanga High School in Kalomo District in Southern Province may not write their 2012 exams because the school was not registered with the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ. According to sources at the District Education Office, Mubanga High School did not meet the minimum requirements for a school to be registered for examinations with ECZ.

The sources said that at the time Mubanga Basic School was turned into a full high school, it did not have Science labs, adding that the school managed to build the two labs but that at the time the school applied for an examination centre number from ECZ the requirements had changed to 3 science labs for a school to be registered as a full centre.

Elita Mulenga a Grade 12 pupil at the affected school said they were worried about the situation and were appealing to government through the ministry of education to come to the aid of the school so that they can write their upcoming exams at school. Mulenga said that the school administration asked them to make their own examination arrangements with Kalomo High School an institution located more than 20 kilometers from Mubanga High School.
