Chief Mpuku 'Cans' Partisan Chiefs

A traditional ruler has observed that it is wrong for any chief to openly declare their support for any political party leader in the forthcoming general elections.

Chief Mpuka of the Chikunda people of Luangwa district says traditional rulers should only give guidance to their subjects on national issues and not impose on them.

Chief Mpuka says as leaders, Chiefs should ensure that they refrain from engaging themselves in active politics to avoid confusion with political leaders.

Speaking in an interview with QFM in Luangwa district, the traditional leader has urged other traditional leaders to respect the rights of their subjects by not imposing on them who they should support in the coming elections but only give guidance where necessary.
