NAREP : LAZ President Should Not Resign

The National Restoration Party (NAREP) has expressed disappointment with calls for Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president Musa Mwenye to step down.

Speaking with Qfm, NAREP Secretary General John Phiri says his party is ready to organize peaceful demonstrations in support of Mr. Mwenye.

Mr. Phiri says people should not demonize the LAZ president for his observation on the ills of the national broadcaster ZNBC which should serve the interests of the public.

He has since urged Mr. Mwenye to stand firm and not allow himself to be intimidated by those who do not respect the laws of Zambia.

And Mr. Phiri has called on government to start investing in the local industry for printing of ballot papers before the 2016 elections.

Commenting on the move by the ECZ to award a contract of printing ballot papers for this year's elections to a South African Company, Mr. Phiri says it is unfortunate that some local companies despite having the capacity to handle the printing of ballot papers, they are not considered for the job.

He says the move is a clear indication that the MMD government has failed to fulfill its pronouncements of empowering Zambians.
