Government rules out local printing of ballots

Works and Supply Minister, Gabriel Namulambe has acknowledged that security cannot be guaranteed if ballot papers were to be locally printed.

This is in the backdrop of electoral stakeholders concerns over the printing of ballots in a foreign country.

Mr Namulambe however says government is soon to spend 46 billion kwacha on security installations at the government printers in order to facilitate local printing of the ballots.

He has further said that government is nevertheless confident that ballot papers for the 2016 and 2021 general elections will be printed locally.
